Shallow Well Drilling
LWI's four-day shallow well drilling seminar is a broad, hands-on training that prepares volunteers to drill shallow wells in developing countries.
Over the four days, trainees will be divided into teams and they will go through the process of drilling a six-inch diameter borehole to a depth of up to 100 feet using equipment that can be used in medium to soft formations.
The teams will then case and develop the well, and will install a hand pump. At the end of the day, there is a relaxed evening session to review the events of the day.
Pump Repair
This four and a half day training session located in Houston, TX. The pump repair seminar gives an overview to volunteers on how to repair broken hand pumps.
Participants are taught to evaluate and repair up to 13 different styles of hand pumps found in many parts of the world. Typical pump problems are simulated in actual field situations. Trainees work in small groups of 4-5 team members.
